Homeschool Case Heads to NH Supreme Court

This should be interesting.

The New Hampshire Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case to determine if a child must attend public school (as her father wishes) or continue to be homeschooled (as her mother wishes). The parents are divorced. I wonder if this is one of those cases of fighting over the kid to exact revenge on the other parent.

The earlier court decision claimed the child needed to go to public school because she vigorously defended her religious (Christian) beliefs and therefore, she needed to go to public school to hear another point of view. Um, HUH? I think the judges need to go to some sort of school to study the Constitution.

The father in the case says the child needs to go in order to–you guessed it–get socialized. Although, the Fox News story quotes court documents that don’t show a lack of socialization:

The girl, identified in only as “Amanda,” had been described in court documents as being “well liked, social and interactive with her peers, academically promising and intellectually at or superior to grade level.”

I wonder how NH schools compare.
