The 12 Day Experiment–Day Two

December 27th, 2009, 1:16 pm · Post a Comment · posted by

Saturday was day two of our version of the 12 days of Christmas.

I would like to say it started out as a leisurely reflection on the season, but we had plans to butcher ducks. We had put it off the week before due to everything we had going on. It was pretty much a disaster, but we didn’t know that when the day started.

All the kids got another present. Max got Wallace and Gromit videos, my plan for keeping the little ones occupied during our chores.

After the duck fiasco, we had friends over for a feast: our Christmas goose stuffed with potatoes and caramelized onions, a ham, butternut squash and a green salad from our winter garden topped with pecans, cranberries, mandarins and sauteed duck breast. After dinner, I whipped some cream with cinnamon to go on top of my coffee. Yum.
