Dear Mom

April 22nd, 2012, 4:49 am · Post a Comment · posted by

My son came in the other day, pencil and paper in hand.

“Mom, I’m gonna write you a note.”

“OK,” I said. Since he is just about to turn five, I thought he might need some help.

“How do you spell ‘Dear’?” Atticus asked.

“D”

“OK”

“E”

“Uh-huh”

“A”

“OK”

“R. That’s it.”

“OK, how do you spell ‘Mom’?”

“M-O-M”

“Thanks, Mom.”

“Now what are you gonna write?”

“I’m gonna write ‘Thanks for lunch.’ How do you spell that?”

“How about if I write it and you can copy it?”

And so he did. And then he wrote “Love, Atticus” and made the “o” into a heart.

Boys are great.
