I came across this article from the Denver Post, and really enjoyed it. This family with 7 children currently has 5 of those kids in college. Two are still in high school. The older children started community college at 16 and then went on to a 4-year degree, and the younger ones have the same plan. The children have also mastered musical instruments and they get jobs and work when old enough.
And yet……the comments to the article ask if homeschoolers meet the state standards. Because it is all about checking off boxes. The successes this family has achieved, well, how could that matter? Did we check off all the boxes?
Apparently, admission to college and success in academics, music, and real life isn’t enough for some people.
Check it out, add your voice.
